thefoodiepeople’s Tiramisu Recipe

“Tiramisu is my favourite”

-Hugh Jackman

Hi Everyone and Welcome back to thefoodiepeople ❤ First off, I would like to thank you all for the overwhelming support received. I really appreciate all your visits and likes 🙂 The page views have inspired me to do an additional post today as a thank you to all those lovely people out there ❤ Okay so here it goes! Since there were views from (literally) all over the globe, I decided to post a more neutral topic today, no reviews I’m afraid, just some my all time favourite TIRAMISU recipe! (The one written here is the child friendly version with no alcohol but should you choose to add some in, Rum, Marsala, these are all good choices for tiramisu! Just add them in to the coffee mixture before placing the ladyfingers in and you will have a tiny hint

Scraper, microwavable mixing bowl, whisk (preferably electric whisk), tablespoons, sieve, teaspoon, bowl, pot, deep plate, measuring cup, cup, egg separator (optional)

1/2 cup expresso (or just really strong coffee)

8 sponge fingers (each broken into 3 pieces)

2 eggs (separate the egg yolks and egg whites)

Pinch of salt

250g mascarpone cheese

3 Tablespoons and a Teaspoon of Sugar

*1 teaspoon of Rum/ Marsala* (it’s really an optional ingredient. I have made done without it many times and it still tastes just as good 🙂 )

*Unsweetened coca for dusting* (another optional ingredient, it really depends on how you want to decorate your tiramisu)

Note: I actually did this recipe without the use of vanilla extract (I am aware that many recipes online do use it but trust me, it tastes flavourful enough without the vanilla extract)

  1. Make 1/2 cup of strong coffee/ expresso and add in 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  2. Pour the coffee into a deep plate and cover
  3. Add a teaspoon of Rum/ Marsala wine (you can choose to add more/ less or even do without it depending on your own personal preference)
  4. 3. Separate two egg yolks from the egg whites (making sure that the egg whites do not get mixed with the egg yolks- critical to ensure formation of stiff peaks)
  5. Add 2 tablespoons and one teaspoon of sugar into the egg yolks
  6. Whisk the mixture until is it thick and creamy using double boiler method (low heat)
  7. Beat it for like 5-6 min (or at least until the mixture turns pale yellow and thickens)
  8. Add the 250g of cream cheese and a pinch of salt before whisking it once again
  9. Make sure that the mixture is smooth and creamy before starting on the egg whites
  10. Using a clean whisk, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form (it will get foamy and thickens)
  11. Add half of the egg white mixture into the mixture with the egg yolks
  12. Fold it to mix it well but be gentle so as not to remove all air from the mixture
  13. When it is mixed evenly, add the remaining egg white mixture into the mixture of egg yolks and whites.
  14. Once again fold it well
  15. Grab the clean cups and start setting the tiramisu. Cut the sponge fingers into 3 equal parts
  16. Start with a bottom layer of the mascarpone mixture
  17. After which, grab one of the cut sponge finger pieces and dip it in the coffee and flip it a couple of times before taking it out (Do not soak it for too long or the sponge fingers will become soggy)
  18. Put the soaked piece of sponge finger into the cup and place another layer of mascarpone mixture on top of it
  19. Repeat step 15-17 till you reach the top of the cup
  20. Gently tap the cup to ensure that the surface is flat before wiping away all the excess mixture
  21. Seal the cups with a layer of plastic wrap before placing in the fridge overnight
  22. Before serving, shake unsweetened cocoa on the surface for a nice finish or simply just decorate the tiramisu however you wish!

Voila! Tiramisu really isn’t difficult. In fact, it’s one of my favourite desserts to create because everyone likes it and it’s really quite simple. I hope you have fun trying it out! stay tuned till the next time 🙂 (There will still be a new post on Saturday!)

Here are some of my creations in case you need some inspiration 😀 13335306_10210004741974312_1202147808_n.jpg
